چکیده

We show that the values of entropies of multidimensional shifts of finite type (SFTs) are characterized by a certain computation-theoretic property: a real number h ≥ 0 is the entropy of such an SFT if and only if it is right recursively enumerable, i.e. there is a computable sequence of rational numbers converging to h from above. The same characterization holds for the entropies of sofic shifts. On the other hand, the entropy of an irreducible SFT

The Symbolic Dynamics Of Multidimensional Tiling Systems

We prove a multidimensional version of the theorem that every shift of finite type has a power that can be realized as the same power of a tiling system. We also show that the set of entropies of tiling systems equals the set of entropies of shifts of finite type.

Entropies Realizable by Block Gluing Z Shifts of Finite Type

In [9], Hochman and Meyerovitch gave a complete characterization of the set of topological entropies of Zd shifts of finite type (SFTs) via a recursion-theoretic criterion. However, the Zd SFTs they construct in the proof are relatively degenerate and in particular lack any form of topological mixing, leaving open the question of which entropies can be realized within Zd SFTs with (uniform) mix...

Characterizations Using Entropies of Records in a Geometric Random Record Model

Suppose that a geometrically distributed number of observations are available from an absolutely continuous distribution function $F$, within this set of observations denote the random number of records by $M$. This is called geometric random record model. In this paper, characterizations of $F$ are provided in terms of the subsequences entropies of records conditional on events ${M geq n}$ or ...

Entropy of infinite systems and transformations

The Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy is a far reaching dynamical generalization of Shannon entropy of information systems. This entropy works perfectly for probability measure preserving (p.m.p.) transformations. However, it is not useful when there is no finite invariant measure. There are certain successful extensions of the notion of entropy to infinite measure spaces, or transformations with ...

Multidimensional fuzzy finite tree automata

This paper introduces the notion of multidimensional fuzzy finite tree automata (MFFTA) and investigates its closure properties from the area of automata and language theory. MFFTA are a superclass of fuzzy tree automata whose behavior is generalized to adapt to multidimensional fuzzy sets. An MFFTA recognizes a multidimensional fuzzy tree language which is a regular tree language so that for e...
